TariffCheck (“we”, “us”) operates tariffcheck.in, a free reference tool for Indian customs duty rates and HS code lookup. This policy explains what information we collect and how we use it.

What We Collect

• Search queries and page visits — captured by Google Analytics 4 to understand which HS codes and features are most useful.
• IP address and device info — logged by our hosting provider (Vercel) for abuse prevention and rate limiting.
• Feedback you submit — when you click 👍/👎 on any page, we record the page type, the HS code or query, your rating, and any optional comment. We do not collect identifiers along with feedback.
• Ad personalization data — Google AdSense uses cookies to serve relevant ads. See the AdSense section below.

We do not collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, or financial information unless you contact us directly.

Cookies

• _ga, _ga_* — Google Analytics, page-view tracking
• __gads, __gpi, IDE — Google AdSense, ad personalization and frequency capping
• tariff_theme — your chosen light/dark theme (local only, never sent to a server)
• feedback_*, cookieNoticeAck — local-only flags so we don't re-prompt you for feedback or cookie acceptance (never sent to a server)

Third-Party Services

• Google Analytics 4 — anonymized page-view analytics. Google Privacy Policy.
• Google AdSense — serves contextual advertisements. May personalize ads based on your past browsing. You can opt out at Google Ads Settings.
• Vercel — hosting and edge network.
• Supabase — PostgreSQL database for tariff data.
• Cloudflare R2 — public PDF hosting for tariff documents.
• Upstash — Redis-based API rate limiting (stores hashed IP-derived counters, not raw IPs).

Google AdSense

We display ads through Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings or aboutads.info.

Your Rights

Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act (DPDP) and the EU GDPR (where applicable), you have the right to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you. Because we don't collect personal identifiers, requests are limited to feedback rows you submitted — to delete them, email us with the approximate date and HS code.

Children

The service is not directed to children under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

We may update this policy. The “Last updated” date above reflects the most recent revision.
